Here's a List of the Best Events and Experiences Around Cornwall in August 2023!

Updated: Jul 31, 2023

What’s on, my Ansom?

We’re right into summer now! The temperature is up, but the weather isn’t the only thing that’s heating up. August is a massive month for events down in Cornwall, with some of the seasons biggest and best rolling in one after the other.

Once again, we’re here to help you sift through the information! We’ve got another curated list of some of the top choices for things to do around Cornwall in August.

Let’s get into it!

What’s on in August

Kicking things off is another family favourite, the mighty Falmouth week! A tradition that dates back to the 19th century, the modern event is a weeklong celebration of everything great about Falmouth, and Cornwall!

Are you into getting dressed up and joining a parade? You’re in luck! Enjoy a carnival atmosphere? Got you covered! Live music events? You’re spoilt for choice! Art shows, medieval recreation events, theatre, all going off around the town. There’s even a movie, comic, and anime con! With multiple events occurring simultaneously at locations all around town, the Falmouth week defines the phrase “something for everyone”.

If you’re knocking about in the first week of August, you don’t want to miss out on the fun!

Back again for another year, the premier Cornish music festival Boardmasters promises to be another stand out event this year. World famous Fistral Beach and Watergate bay once again host festivities over a weeklong celebration of music, surfing, and the Cornish way of life.

Boardmasters has been no stranger to heavyweights of the music world over the years, and with acts like Liam Gallagher, Lorde, Cypress Hill and Florence + The Machine on stage 2023 is no different.

Tickets are limited so if you’re interested, get your bookings in quickly!

The special charm and way of life that makes Cornwall such an amazing place to visit could never exist without the local Cornish people. And we think it’s crucial that we support and give back to the local community as much as we can.

The Summer Farmers Market in Truro is both a fantastic way to show support, and a great way to spend a morning or afternoon! Founding over 25 years ago by a collective of local producers, the Summer Farmer’s market proudly boasts over 60 stalls offering the highest quality local produce and crafts you’ll find.

As well as nosing around the market, there are plenty of events and activities scheduled over the weekend for you to make a day of it.

Cornwall would be nothing without the brilliant, salt of the earth people that make events like this possible, so please support them if you can!

If the mainstream star power of Boardmasters isn’t your thing, why not rock up to Wadebridge for the Cornwall Folk Festival?

Featuring an array of musical talent from all around the U.K., the Cornwall Folk Festival is guaranteed to be an experience you’ll never forget. This year marks the festival’s 50th anniversary, so expect a jovial and celebratory atmosphere!

So what’s the plan?

So there you have it, my friends! Another month of recommendations for things for you to do if you visit Cornwall in August.

If there’s anything else on this month that you think we’ve missed, please leave a comment and let us know. We’d love to hear from you!

Later on!
