What’s on, my Ansome?
Nothing beats a freshly pulled pint when you’re on your holiday. Or perhaps you’re more of a cocktail fan? Either way, there’s nothing wrong with enjoying a drink or two when you’re in your down time! But with so many public houses to visit, how do you make sure you’re choosing wisely?
Well, we’ve been known to sink a jar or two in our time! And we’re confidant in our ability to recognise a quality boozer when we see one. We think we’re very well qualified to answer the question “Where can I get a drink in Helston?”!
In today’s blog you’re going to get 5 recommendations for what, in our opinions, is the best pub in Helston!
Let’s get into it!
1. Blue Anchor
The Blue Anchor, located conveniently in the centre of Helston, is a spot you can’t miss if you visit the local area! Legend has it that this traditional Cornish inn has been providing ale and respite to weary travellers since the 15th century!
They’re widely known for being the home of the Spingo brewery, the oldest brewer in Cornwall. They have a grand selection of their own drinks on tap, so if you’re a fan of real ale you’re in for a treat.
If you’re only going to go out once while you’re in the area, we strongly recommend you head to the Blue Anchor! It’s got a great claim to being the best pub in Helston! You won’t regret it.
2. The Red Lion
This is the spot to visit on a beautiful Cornish summer’s day! Just a few metres up the road from the Blue Anchor, The Red Lion is a proper British pub that has a fantastic beer garden for you to enjoy your drink when the weather is nice.
That’s not the only good thing about the pub, though! As well as the classic pool table, there are also 4 TV’s on the walls in the pub. If you’re into sports and looking for a place to catch the big game, look no further!
3. The Bell
If you’re travelling in a sizeable group, we recommend heading over to The Bell! This pub boasts a great play area for the kids, with another big, comfortable beer garden outside overlooking the play space for you to keep an eye on your little ones while you enjoy your drinks!
The Bell is also a dog friendly pub, so bring the whole family and have a delightful afternoon out!
4. Henly’s Bar and Restaurant
Henly’s is the place to go if you’re looking for more of a night out! The restaurant is one of the best in the local area - A wide range of dishes that cater to everyone in your party, with incredible local produce and very reasonable prices. The hogs pudding scotch egg is a real treat!
After you finish your meal, you can head downstairs into Henly’s bar - They’ve a range of fantastic cocktails on the menu, as well as a fine selection of draught and bottled beers. It’s the perfect place to wind down of an evening after a busy day of sightseeing.
5. Whealdream Restaurant and Bar
Just up the road from Roselidden, we can strongly recommend visiting Whealdream! Another bar and restaurant, it’s a top spot to visit just for a drink, or for a family meal!
While we can recommend visiting any time, if you’re looking for a Sunday roast, Whealdream are famous for having the absolute best carvery in the local area! Make sure you book ahead of time so you don’t miss out and prepare for the treat of a lifetime!
Bottoms up!
So there you have it, folks. Those are our recommendations for the best pub in Helston, or at least the best places you can go to get a drink (and some top scran!).
